Self Help Toolbox

Practicing mindfulness means reminding yourself to be present in the moment and pay specific attention to what is going on in that moment. Being mindful includes specific awareness of sounds going through your ears, sensations you feel, the texture of food in your mouth, the details of things you are looking at and just paying specific attention as opposed to being on cruise control. It’s like taking the stairs instead of the elevator or riding a bike instead of driving a car. The purpose is to avoid being on automatic while getting caught up in your thoughts.

"If you just communicate, you can get by. But if you communicate skillfully, you can work miracles." ~ Jim Rohn
